Hi, I'm Kendrick Howard. On the page I go by Xhale. Letters from Xhale is my independent notebook of original work—short stories, poems, music lyrics, movie plots, and scripts. Words that breathe. Stories that linger.
Writing has been the one place that didn't care what team I was on, or if I had a contract, or if practice felt like punishment. When the road was heavy and the game stopped being fun, the blank page stayed open. Here I could build my own worlds, hear my own voice, and let the hardest things speak for themselves.
I'm an apocalyptic kinda writer. I don't mean explosions in the sky as much as the quiet ways a life can fall apart and rearrange itself. A careful plot helps with life. The stories here are my way of escaping and making sense at the same time.
Xhale writes from places most people don't survive.
If you ask me what color is the ocean, I would say whatever it sees the most.
